Crystallization and melting properties studied by DSC and FTIR spectroscopy of goldenberry (Physalis peruviana) oil

The chemical and thermal characteristics of goldenberry pomace oil (GPO) seed (GSO) were investigated. GPO GSO contained high levels unsaturated fatty acids (90.1% 85.1%, respectively), the major acid was linoleic (62.0% 72.8%, respectively). Additionally, eleven triacylglycerol (TAG) species, three which represented 82.7%, namely C54:6, C54:4 C52:4, trilinolein dominant one (35.5%). nine TAG two 80.3%, C54:6 (53.3%). DSC analysis revealed that exothermal peaks detected during cooling. Three endothermal (one is for GSO) melting, most significant occurred at low temperatures. FTIR spectra indicated did not contain peroxides or trans acids, but they concentrations free acids.

A new withanolide glycoside from physalis peruviana

A new withanolide glycoside, 17beta-hydroxy-14, 20-epoxy-1-oxo-[22R]-3beta-[O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl]-witha-5, 24-dienolide (1), has been isolated from the whole plant of Physalis peruviana. Its identity was determined using a combination of spectroscopic data including 2D NMR techniques and chemical transformations.
